Closer

I haven't made a page in a while and I felt like I was in a bit of a "creative rut", so I decided to finally dig into some of the Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic collection pack. I love all of the papers and was hoarding them, but using my favorite sheet was a great starting point.

I used a cut file by Kinsey Wilson for the Studio Calico "Bright Ideas" class for the map of Canada and the rest of the page came together quickly. The lyrics are from the song "Transatlanticism" by Death Cab for Cutie.

I hand-stitched the path between the hearts. As a complete newbie to hand-stitching, it took a really long time to complete a simple line. One of the other challenges in the class was to hand-stich a title, but that wasn't going to happen with my lack of skill! I like the effect of the thicker thread/floss though, definitely a technique I'll be trying again.

For the rest of the page, I picked out some of my favorite items. I love the tags and badges in the "Love you lots" Evalicious line, so I layered some of those on the emptier side of the photo.

Although this page is pretty simple, it is one of my favorites. Thanks for taking a look!

Products: Paper: American Crafts (Dear Lizzy 5th and Frolic); Paper tags: Evalicious ("You are my happy", "love", grey letters); Badge: Evalicious (you & me); Washi tape: (Freckled Fawn); Wood veneer: Studio Calico; Cut file: Kinsey Wilson for Studio Calico

  2. Amazing layout! I am the same way about my favorite products, I love them a bit *too* much to use them unless I really force myself to. And I have to say, I adore Death Cab for Cutie, Closer being one of their songs that gets to me every time. Now I gotta go listen to it. ;)
